Povidone, a compound often combined with other substances, such as iodine, can cause allergic reactions, even if some individuals are not sensitive to the chemical. PVP is used as a stabilizer in nanoparticle synthesis and can eliminate the benefits of tea, cinnamon, cloves, bay leaf, witch hazel, and allspice on hypoglycemia. Due to its light, flaky, and hygroscopic nature, up to 40% of dry PVP's weight can be easily absorbed by atmospheric water. PVP also produces films easily and has good wetting qualities in solution, making it a suitable coating or coating additive.
